Standard Specifications
- The Beta 21 E-Drive has a robust, rugged, compact and unitary design.
- The 48v DC motor delivers 31kW peak on start-up and 21kW continuous power and is fully integrated with its controller.
- The 48v DC motor also features a reduction drive to employ a large efficient propeller and run it at its optimised speed. It has highly efficient cooling via a water jacket, an integrated header tank and water pump which delivers self-bleeding, easy filling and simple keel cooled skin tank or external hull mounted heat exchanger pod connectivity. The built in 48v DC electric motor controller has self-protection for overpower, under voltage and overspeed.
- The Beta 21 E-Drive has a 15 amp 12v DC output for the vessel’s auxiliary equipment.
- The Beta 21 E-Drive has ‘plug & play’ connectivity for its control panel, joystick and power supply. The LCD 7″ touch screen control panel is configured to show speed, current, voltage, and battery bank charge left available.
- Heavy duty E-Drive feet with flexible mountings.
- E-Drive test certificate and operators manual.
- Off white paint.
- The Beta 21 E-Drive can fully integrate with a 48v battery management invertor charger system such as Victron or Mastervolt – not included.
- The Beta 21 E-Drive will additionally require a 48v DC battery bank – not included.
- The Beta 21 E-Drive flexible mount footprint width matches that of a Beta 43, 50 or 60 engine.

Seagoing Cooling Options
Having supplied the UK inland waterway market with inboard electric propulsion motors for several years Beta Marine are excited to debut a new option to now allow wider use by seagoing vessels.

Like inland waterway vessels, seagoing vessels with hulls made of steel or aluminium the Beta 14 & 21 E-Drives require a keel cooled skin tank to cool the 48v DC electric motors highly efficient water jacket.

For seagoing vessels with hulls made of GRP or wood, the Beta 14 & 21 E-Drive will require our new optional external hydrodynamically efficient hull mounted heat exchanger pod installed to cool the 48v DC electric motors highly efficient water jacket.
This is also suitable for vessels with steel or aluminium hulls should the internal configuration not allow a keel cooled skin tank to be installed. Note: Vessels with steel, aluminium or GRP hulls will additionally require our sacrificial anode package to be installed and maintained.

48v Management Systems
48v Battery management invertor/charger systems allow great flexibility and energy control of an electrically powered vessel. They allow integration and battery bank charging by 230v AC shore power, onboard 48v DC wind turbines, 48v DC solar panels & 230v AC diesel powered generating sets. They manage 48v DC battery bank charging and 12v/24v DC & 230v AC energy consumption as the vessel requires. The invertor allows 230v AC power to be supplied via the 48v DC battery bank. They also allow greater levels of system monitoring, control (in system & control panel) and allow connection into wider vessel onboard networks such as NMEA2000.
