The Perkins Engine Company was founded in Peterborough, UK, in 1932 by Frank Perkins and Charles Chapman who had the vision of transforming the then heavy industrial diesel engine into a low weight, higher speed model that could rival the petrol engine. Their links, most notably Caterpillar’s acquisition of Perkins in December 1997, have helped the company develop its engine range with unrivalled technical expertise and global reach. Manufacturing facilities now operate in several countries with the capacity to produce some 800,000 units a year in the 4-2000 kW bracket. Perkins marine range is specially engineered to meet with all marine classification and SOLAS requirements.
Our Perkins powered marine generating sets are offered in varying kVA that are heat exchanger cooled as standard, keel and radiator cooling is available as an alternative. We offer a large menu of ancillary equipment and accessories that you may tailor to suit your individual bespoke needs. Once you have ordered your open framed or acoustically enclosed generating set it is individually built to order and to classification standard if it is required. The generators driven by the Perkins engines are as standard Mecc Alte but others options are available please refer to Generating Set Alternator Options.
