‘Super Silent’ Propulsion Engines

Beta Marine Super Silent Canal Boat Engines

Although our engines are “quiet” by comparison with other diesels, for customers who demand especially quiet cruising Beta Marine have developed an insulated acoustic enclosure option for an appropriate range of keel cooled engines.

These enclosures reduce noise levels down to a low 60 dB(A) when measured at seven metres under free field conditions at normal cruising speeds. To put this into context if you value the sound of wind, wildlife and water rather than your engine, your expectations will be fulfilled.

Manufactured from ‘zintec’ steel and finished in off white ‘powder coated’ paint to complement our engine colour, the panels are bolted together for rigidity & strength and lined with high quality 38mm flame retardant acoustic foam material (including a 4mm polymeric barrier), held in place with high temperature silicon adhesive.

Quick release “service” panels facilitate easy, simple and unobstructed access to the engine, gearbox and ancillaries. Acoustic attenuating ducts provide air flow in and out of the enclosure assisted by a ventilation fan and comes complete with 3 metres of flexible ducting.

The design allows the engine and gearbox unit to rest on flexible mountings within the enclosure and all necessary connections including speed and gear selection control cables, battery +ve and -ve terminals, fuel inlet and return, cooling water inlet and return, calorifier feed and return, dry exhaust outlet and the gearbox output power flange are all brought out of the enclosure – ready for a quick and easy installation.

Inland Water Keel Cooled Engines that are available with this option are the Beta 30 through to the Beta 115T please refer to our Greenline Engine Range.
